About Membership of Electronic Frontiers Australia
Membership subscriptions provide not only much needed funding but also support and encouragement to volunteers directly involved in EFA's activities.
Any person who supports the Objects and Purposes of EFA may apply for membership. EFA has three categories of membership.
EFA is not an organisation that provides specific services to members in return for payment of membership subscriptions, although members receive E-mail notifications about key legal, legislative and policy developments affecting online communications. You join EFA because you feel strongly about preserving online freedoms and rights and you generally approve of the way we have acted in the past and wish to add your support to our efforts.
Should major disagreements arise between a member and the Board, members are free to attempt to convince the Board of the error of its ways through reasoned argument. If that fails, members have the option of nominating for election to the Board themselves at the next Annual General Meeting or, if there are sufficient disgruntled members, calling a Special General Meeting. Failing that, members are always free, of course, to "vote with their feet" and not renew their membership, and/or start their own organisation.
EFA is a trusted advocate for user rights and online civil liberties and a respected participant in the Australian Internet community. Please join us today.
