Spider has been employed in internet services since 1993. She had her first email address before that and has her own index entry in Dale spender’s 1995 work on the internet. She was one of Rosie Cross’ original geek grrls in 1995 and was on the team to set up the United Nations internet centre for the 4th World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995.

Her contribution and leadership has been recognised by several public award programs. For example:
