Media Release January 25th 1998
DUTCH NET ACTIVIST JOINS EFA BOARD
Well-known Internet activist Felipe Rodriguez has been co-opted onto the
board of Electronic Frontiers Australia (EFA), after a unanimous vote.
Previously the manager of the premier Dutch ISP xs4all and chair of
the Dutch provider association NLIP, Mr Rodriguez has recently migrated
to Australia.
During Mr Rodriguez' tenure with xs4all, the Dutch service provider
was involved in some of the most prominent Internet censorship
controversies, including run-ins with the German government and the
Church of Scientology. He has also been an active participant in GILC,
the Global Internet Liberty Campaign.
"Felipe is active and energetic", commented EFA board member Danny Yee,
"and brings with him good technical skills and valuable contacts, as
well as information about what is happening in Europe. He is a most
welcome addition to the EFA board."
Mr Rodriguez himself said, "EFA is respected around the world for its
active stand against censorship and injustice on the Internet. It is
exciting to join forces with EFA to work on these issues."
Mr Rodriguez is also working on a handbook for Internet activists.
