Dear Ms Vassiliadis
Re: Freedom of Information Application, ABA File Ref: 2000/0170
I refer to the fax dated 19 April 2000 from Mr Stephen Nugent in reply to
our response contesting the cost assessed for processing the above Freedom
of Information Application, and our phone conversation of 2 May 2000.
EFA wishes to amend this FOI application as follows. Such amendments are
made without prejudice to submitting another application for information
We narrow the scope of item A to include only the actual complaint received
by the ABA.
We withdraw our request for item B.
We narrow the scope of item C to include only the actual request from the
ABA to the OFLC for classification of the Internet content.
We narrow the scope of item D to include only the actual classification
decision made by the OFLC on the Internet content.
We narrow the scope of item E to include only the actual Interim, Final or
Special takedown notices issued by the ABA.
We narrow the scope of item F to include only requests to filtering software
manufacturers to add a site or sites to their "black list", or otherwise
block access to said sites by users of their software.
We narrow the scope of item G to include only action taken on complaints
where a takedown notice was not issued by the ABA, ie referral to a law
We withdraw our request for items H and I.
We confirm that we have no interest in the identity of complainants, except
in the case of investigations initiated by the ABA, another government
agency, a government Minister, or a Member of Parliament.
We also confirm that we do not request copies of the actual Internet content
involved in these complaints or subsequent actions.
Owing to intense interest in the outcome of this application by Internet
users in Australia and elsewhere, we have posted copies of this exchange of
correspondence on our website at:
